Happy new year, and welcome to the (finally) updated version of my site!

It feels weird to look at my front page and see that the live version of my website hadn't been updated since 2024. Technically, I have been working on this version of FREAKPHONE pretty consistently... but I had a real all-or-nothing attitude about publishing big site updates, and 2025 was extremely busy for me offline.

This version of the site is a year's worth of effort, so I hope it's worth it!

While not very much is changed on the surface, a huge difference between this version of FREAKPHONE and the previous one is that I finally made the jump to start using a static site generator.

The scope of my website just got to be way too big to manage by coding every page individually, but I still wanted to keep everything static and lightweight, so I stopped avoiding using a SSG. It was a lot less scary than I thought it would be!

I basically had to remake everything from the ground up... but the tradeoff of that effort is spending less time on updates in the future. I also use PagesCMS to manage my files and content, which is a total fucking lifesaver, holy shit.

What about me?

Offline, 2025 was a pretty big year for me. I finally moved out of a bad living situation, and am now living somewhere a lot nicer and safer.

A lot of why I haven't kept a blog before now was my apprehension to talk about myself. To be blunt, the past few years have been something of a torture gauntlet, and I didn't really want that sort of stuff documented too heavily.

Things finally took a turn for the better this year. A lot of positive change that I have been waiting for finally came, and I truly feel happy and safe and hopeful for the first time in my life... in a way, it feels like I started living for the first time these past few months. I am very proud of myself, and I hope this momentum keeps going in 2026.

Here are some luc highlights for the year:

  • MOVED OUT!! NO MORE TORTURE WORLD FOR ME!!!
  • Read a lot more books
  • Started doing physical arts and crafts again
  • Spent a lot of time on my big personal project
  • I got to meet my first internet friend (on their wedding day!!)
  • Tried so many new foods!
  • Removed a lot of toxicity and negativity from my life
  • Re-evaluated my relationship to art, and will hopefully start making more meaningful things going forward
  • REMADE MY SITE <3 LOL
  • Got a non-art day job, which ended up being a positive thing (I fix phones now, lol)
  • made new friends (hi heaven server. i love u my angels)
  • survived!!!!

and some goals for the new year.

  • go to the gym
  • find the right therapist
  • keep meeting new people
  • finish at least one small game
  • start making dolls
  • get a demo/prototype for my big game project done
  • make more music
  • ride my bike more often
  • journal more
  • go out dancing more
  • be more strict with others, and more kind to myself.
  • be less scared!

To everyone who visited my website while it laid dormant in 2025, who left drawings on my Oekaki or messages in my guestbook, and especially those who helped me out or rooted for me through my personal stuff, thank you very much for spending time with me and my little project.

I hope that I can share more fun stuff this year, and I hope that 2026 is kind to everyone reading this.
